  1. I was out of town camping when this episode hit the virtual shelves, and I just got a chance to listen to it now. What a fantastic episode!

I think D&D’s treatment of illusions is (at least partially) based on the Bowmen of Lothar from Thuvia, Maid of Mars (Edgar Rice Burroughs). I will be looking forward to that episode, when you get there!

  2. Really enjoyed the episode. Merritt is overlooked, most of his books have the creeping horror but combined with the Haggard style pulp adventure story but my favourites are his crime horro novels like Burn Witch Burn, Creepy Shadow and Seven Footprints to Satan.

His short stories are also interesting especially Three lines of Old French and the Fox Woman.
